Tributes paid to Minister Adhikari in Pokhara

Pokhara, March 1 . Rich tributes are being paid here to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, who was killed along with six other people in a helicopter crash that took place in Taplejung on Wednesday.

Various dignitaries, people’s representatives, officials, leaders of various political parties and members of the general public have been paying their last respects to the late Leader at the Exhibition Centre at Naya Bazar here where the Minister’s body has been kept for paying of final tributes.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel and Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung paid their final respects to the late Adhikari by laying the national flag over his mortal remains.

Similarly, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) spokesman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and leader Bamdev Gautam jointly paid tribute to the late Adhikari on behalf the party, draping his body with the party flag.

Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Padma Kumari Aryal, Nepali Congress leader Chandra Bhandari, Gandaki Province Assembly main opposition party, Nepali Congress, leader Krishna Chandra Nepali, NCP leader Yogesh Bhattarai, Minister for Labour Gokarna Bista, Nepali Congress leader Yagya Bahadur Thapa, among others paid their last respects to leader Adhikari.

Members of the general public in their thousands are in queue waiting for their turn to offer tributes to Minister Adhikari.

Tributes paid in Kathmandu also 
Earlier, the mortal body of Minister Adhikari was kept at Tundikhel, Kathmandu before taking it to Pokhara, where President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice- President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s chair KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister and NCP’s another chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, National Assembly (NA) chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokhrel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and other members in the Council of Ministers reached to pay final adieu to all those seven including Adhikari killed in the crash.

Province 1 chief minister Sherdhan Rai; province 5 chief minister Shankar Pokharel; NCP’s leaders and former prime ministers Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal; party general secretary Bishnu Poudel; spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha; leader Janardan Sharma and other party leaders and cadres paid last tributes to them.

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, leader Arjun Narsingh KC, former Prime Minister and Naya Shakti party’s coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai, former chair of Council of Ministers Khilraj Regmi, lawmakers, the chief secretary, chiefs of security bodies, chiefs and employees of Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions, business community and media persons reached Tundikhel to pay last tributes to the deceased.

Paying tribute to leader Adhikari, NC senior leader said the sad death of highly prominent leader Adhikari remaining as a hope for youths was unexpected. He termed it as a ‘grave n loss’ to the entire nation. The government should pay special attention so as to avert such incidents in the future, he asserted.

Naya Shakti Party’s coordinator Dr Bhattarai said the country lost a prominent leader of a new generation with the passing away of Adhikari. It will take many years for the nation to get the leader like of him while NCP’s leader Jhalanath Khanal remembered him as a highly talent, an eloquent speaker and a competent leader.
