Kathmandu, July 6 . Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has submitted a draft of Mass Communication Bill-2075 BS to the government.

The umbrella organization of journalists submitted the model bill to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota on Thursday.

The Bill has specified the provisions that an integrated law should be framed for all types of media and no provision should be enshrined in the to-be-framed Mass Communication allowing control on media on any basis and conditions.

On the occasion, Minster Baskota shared that the government is making necessary preparation to introduce Integrated Mass Communication Act based on the recommendations of the concerned authorities in line with the spirit of the draft.

He further shared that preparation is underway to come up with the Mass Communication Act in a way to distinguish social media and mainstream media while making mass media dignified, authentic and responsible.

FNJ Chairperson Govinda Acharya stressed the need to bring further reforms in the Working Journalists Act not in to-be-framed Mass Communication Act.
