Government scraps corporation direction board

Kathmandu, July 26 . The government has scrapped the corporation direction board in line with the public corporation direction board formation and work operation order 2069.

With the closure of the board, its properties and liabilities would be brought under the Finance Ministry, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota while sharing the information about Cabinet decisions Thursday evening.

However, the Cabinet meeting decided to continue the millennium challenge account Nepal development committee formation order 2074.

Others in the list for continuation are alternative energy promotion development committee, underground water resource development committee, water and energy commission Nepal and electricity regulation commission, Nepal electricity authority, and legal books management committee under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Press Council Nepal has been renamed Nepal Media Council and an agreement in principle would be provided for drafting a bill to this regard.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture has been split to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and the Ministry of Land Management and Poverty Alleviation.

Chief of General Staff of Nepal Army Purna Chandra Thapa would be recommended before the President to work as the Acting Chief Justice from August 10. Similarly, Abadhes Kumar Trpathi has been nominated as the vice-chair of Lumbini Development Trust and Bishnu Prasad Dhakal as its member secretary.

The government is to form a talk team having representatives from different ministries on the acceptance of 130 million US dollars from the Asian Development Bank for the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project.

As per the recommendation of the National Human Rights Commission, the government has decided to provide compensation to the families of various human rights violations victims.

The Minister further informed that upon the proposal of the Home Ministry, the government decided to give consent in principle for the drafting of bill on organization registration regulation and management.

Nepal will file candidacy for the membership of the UN Human Rights Council for the period of 2021 to 2023. Nepal is currently its member.

Agreement on Nepal-India air route would be endorsed. 
The Cabinet meeting on Thursday was the held without the use of paper. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the Cabinet members were present with Mac books. This is the first Cabinet meeting without paper use.
