Kathmandu, April 29.  The Nepal Distilleries Pvt. Ltd.- Producer of Khukri Rum is proud to announce its partnership to the historic Clean Himalaya Program 2021 taking place under the leadership of the Nepal Army. Khukri Rum and the Nepal Army have always shared a special bond in upholding Nepal’s identity worldwide. We are pleased to strengthen this bond even further by preserving our natural and cultural heritage together in this historic mountain cleaning campaign.

This program aims to clean the basecamps and their peripheries of Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and most importantly, Everest-the world’s highest mountain. Khukri Rum is honoured to play a role in protecting our sacred Himalaya and that too with our specially, The Nepal Army. The campaign begins from the 11th of April, 2021 and continues till its conclusion on World Environment day-June 5th, 2021.

This gargantuan effort aims to collect nearly 70000 kgs of waste consisting of abandoned tents, canisters, food containers, and discarded equipment that has accumulated in all 6 mountains, and transport it to Kathmandu, where the waste will be classified and managed accordingly. Our country is home to 8 of the tallest mountains in the world which draws innumerable global and local visitors. However, the accumulation of the resulting waste has adversely affected our mountains, their surrounding ecosystems and communities. The surrounding flora and fauna, the fresh flowing spring waters, and the various communities and industries whose livelihoods depend on such resources are being put in a precarious position.

The Khukri Rum team are invested and committed in protecting and preserving the Himalayas we call our home and that too in collaboration with the Nepal Army. “We take pride in getting an opportunity to join hands with the Nepal Army in this effort for our country and the next generation., says our official [Chairman/MD Khukri Rum].

In light of our 60th anniversary last year, we are thrilled to be supporting such a necessary campaign and playing a role in the preservation of our natural ecosystems and cultural heritage. We believe this to be yet another milestone in our long, historic bond with the Nepal Army and are proud to be taking forward the legacy of Khukri Rum by lending our support in one of the biggest endeavours towards preserving and protecting our pristine Himalaya.
