Minimum wage of labourers starting from Rs 13,000 per month

Kathmandu, July 9 . The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has fixed Rs 13,450 as the minimum monthly wages of labourers starting from the beginning of the fiscal year 2075/076 BS.

The decision was taken as per the trilateral discussions between the employers, representatives of the trade unions and the government.

At a news conference, Minister for Labour Gokarna Raj Bista said that the rate of salary increment of the workers is higher this time compared to the past.

The company failing to provide the minimum wages would be strictly punished, it is said. The clause (106 and 107) of Labour Act, 2074 BS has mentioned the formation of a permanent ‘minimum wages determination committee’ with the representatives of the government, trade unions and employers.

On the occasion, Chairwoman of the committee, Bhawani Rana, said it was necessary that the trade union should join hands for the implementation of the minimum wage.
