Mr. Pranjal Chalise, 19-year-old Technopreneur Felicitated as Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2021

Kathmandu, September  2. Mr. Pranjal Chalise, 19 years old Technopreneur from Kathmandu has been awarded the title of “Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2021” amidst a Virtual Award ceremony organized by Glocal Pvt. Ltd today. It is the seventh iteration of the Glocal Teen Hero Award, which is the only national platform in Nepal to identify and honor outstanding teenagers whose creativity, commitment, experience, and strong leadership have helped them achieve success in life.

Mr. Pranjal was selected among the Top Six Finalists of the competition viz Mr. Anurag Chapagain, (18years, Youtuber, Nawalparasi); Mr. Deepak Sutihar (19 years, Social Entrepreneur, Saptari); Ms. Khusbu Bhandari, (18 years, Wildlife Conservationist, Chitwan); Ms. Neha Gurung, (19 years, Social Activist, Kathmandu); and Ms. Sabhya Rai, (19 years, Education Activist, IIam)

Mr. Pranjal Chalise has aided the Blind Community by inventing Dristi Nepal, which helps the blind community in currency bills recognition and cash transactions. Likewise, He has developed a mobile application that provides agricultural news and information from authentic sources and another app includes – a Women Safety app to ensure the security of women and ensure they are not deprived of opportunities due to their safety reasons. His other two educational apps have 7500 users.

Pranjal has also initiated a non-profit tech venture E-educators Nepal’, which enhances the quality of online education and makes educational resources more accessible. Furthermore, He is the member of the board of Initiative in Nepal Foundation, and currently working on a research paper about the Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts and the ways in which technological advancement can mitigate the costs of elongated transaction processes.

These teenagers were selected from a pool of 611 applications from across the nation, by our respected jury panel through an intense selection round for the impacts they have created in society. The applicants had demonstrated their skills and expertise, and made an impact in their society, from areas like academia, social work, literature, entrepreneurship, computer programming, innovation, and environmental conservation. This award recognizes and honors the exceptional teen whose work is sustainable and who can think out of the box addressing the issues and creating an impact in society. 

Top Six Finalists were shortlisted for the final round of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal based on their achievements, initiations and contributions, and impact of work. Glocal’s 20 under 20 & the Finalists also attended the series of Self-Competency Workshops on different topics and got an opportunity to interact with Industry’s top leaders and corporate personalities to widen their knowledge. 

The finalists were individually interviewed by the panel of judges composed of H.E. Ms. Nona Deprez, the Ambassador of Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, Ms. Vidushi Rana, Director of Marketing, Branding and Business Development at Gold Star shoes, Mr. Varun Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Corp Global, Mr. Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director of the Coca-Cola Company for Nepal and Mr. Saurabh Jyoti, Director of Jyoti Group of Companies and today, Mr. Chalise was officially declared and awarded as Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero Nepal 2021 virtually amidst the awarding ceremony.

Fostering a collaborative community among recipients and strengthening the national recognition of today’s young leaders is a primary goal of the Glocal Teen Hero Award. Past recipients are now inspiring their peers to follow in their footsteps towards making an impact and are also served with ample opportunities.

Wai Wai presents Glocal International Teen Conference 2021 held virtually

Similarly, Glocal also organized the fifth edition of the Wai Wai Presents Glocal International Teen Conference on August 28, 29 & 30. Wai Wai Glocal International Teen Conference (GITC) is an international conference for teenagers in Nepal and abroad. It is an opportunity to network with teenagers around the globe, initiate collaborations, and identify growth opportunities, thereby, building long-lasting friendships and fostering cultural exchange. It is also an amazing platform to share their ideas, initiation, insights, perspectives, and experience, side by side reflecting on world affairs and impacts based on teenagers and youth. 

The conference started virtually on the 28th of August as an Opening Ceremony with the presence of guests and teenagers from different countries. Mr. Binod Das, as a Keynote Speaker encouraged the teenagers from different countries and urged them to work hard to achieve success in life. The conference highlighted the ideas, experience, and stories of the teenagers from different countries like Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mexico, USA, Philippines, Tunisia, and Liberia through a series of panel discussions and presentations. The panel discussions were conducted on different topics like Entrepreneurship, Empowerment, and Socio-Perspective.

The panel discussion on Empowerment was moderated by Mr. Bisam Gyawali, Country Coordinator at UNV Nepal; Entrepreneurship panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Asish Thakur, Executive Director at Glocal Pvt. Ltd & Socio- Perspective panel discussion was led by Mr. Bharath Vaidyanathan, Country Marketing Manager, Nepal, and Bhutan, Coca – Cola.

There was also an Alumni-Led Session as Troop Space & Human Library, from a pool of active, engaging, and supportive alumni for the participants to share their ideas and broaden understanding about different current issues, and be a changemaker.

Along with sessions & panel discussions, different workshops were conducted during the conference. The teenagers got an opportunity to attend the workshop titled See the Unseen by Mr. Shaurab Lohani, Life Coach & Trainer where they got ideas to explore their potentials and opportunities. Along with that, there were panel discussions, Movers Workshop on Social Entrepreneurship, and other exciting networking segments.

The teenagers also attended the mentorship session, where they interacted with the most promising industry leaders from diverse fields ranging from education, entrepreneurship, diplomacy, bureaucracy, and many more from Nepal who were Ms. Faija Parween, Founder, Open Space Network;  Mr. Gaurav Kandel, Founder, View Your Choice; Mr. Kavi Raj Joshi, Founder/Managing Director, NEXT Venture Corp; Mr. Keshar Khulal, Principal, KWS School; Mr. Pavitra Gautam, Co-Founder / Chief Executive Officer at Karkhana; Mr. Roshan Lamichhane, Chief Operating Officer, eSewa, Ms. Prativa Shrestha, Senior Programme Coordinator, Education Wing, UNESCO & Mr. Rajendra Suwal, the Deputy Director – Partnerships in WWF Nepal.

The three days Glocal International Teen Conference ended successfully with the presence of teenagers from different countries and productive interaction, discussion & inspiring mentorship.
