Nepal-Qatar to ink investment deal

Kathmandu, Oct 28 . The four-day official visit of President Bidya Devi Bhandari to Qatar beginning from Monday would focus on strengthening bilateral ties between Nepal and Qatar.

During the visit of President, some agreements would be signed. Leading a Nepali delegation, President Bhandari is embarking on an official visit to Qatar on Monday at the invitation of the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

Minister for Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali told RSS that although such visit of the Head of the State is focused on strengthening bilateral relations, the visit would be focused on other issues too.

Minister Gyawali said, “Discussions will be held regarding security and concerns of Nepali migrant workers in Qatar as well as areas of trade expansion between Nepal and Qatar.”
He further said that serious discussion would be held regarding bringing in investment and technology to Nepal from Qatar in agriculture and infrastructure development sectors.

Some agreements would be signed in this regard, he said. The Foreign Minister said discussion regarding exporting Himalayan water of Nepal in Qatar by processing it has been forwarded.

Similarly, discussion would be held for to operate direct flight in order to make movement between Nepal and Qatar easy and close as well as to give permission to diplomatic passport holders to travel without visa.

Foreign Minister Gyawali, expert at the Office of the President Madhav Sharma, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretary at the Office of the President Binod KC, Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board, Nepal Maha Prasad Adhikari, Chief Personal Secretary of the President Dr Bheshraj Adhikari, media persons and industrialists will accompany President Bhandari in the visit.  RSS
