Kathmandu, March 30. Various pressing issues relating to the foreign investment are being proposed and discussed in the ongoing Investment Summit at Soaltee Hotel, Kathmandu, on the second day today.
Discussion is underway on durable transportation infrastructures, agriculture and medicinal herbs. The concerned experts are putting forth their views how foreign investment could be attracted in these areas in Nepal.
In the first session chaired by Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation, Raghubir Mahaseth, the investment potential on road, railway and waterway featured significantly.
Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Gopal Prasad Sigdel, reminded that Nepal government had put in priority mega physical infrastructures. Completion of Gautam Buddha International Airport was expected to be completed by the end of 2019, while of Pokhara International Airport by 2020.
According to him, cable cars were already successfully operated at Manakamana, Chandragiri and Kalinchowk. Similarly, there is huge potential of water transportation in the Gandaki, Koshi and Karnali Rivers. These could be possible area of investment.
During the discussion, the panelists underscored the need of immediate plan and activities on physical infrastructures to achieve economic development and prosperity.
