in the same premises. Located at Tankisinuwari on Nepal’s very busy East-West Highway towards Biratnagar, it is probably the first such station of its kind in Nepal. At this station, reliable arrangements have been made for the maintenance of vehicles involved in the transportation business, as well as short-term storage facilities and various amenities for drivers and loaders. Upaya aims to open similar Upaya Stations in various locations in each province in the near future as part of its infrastructure growth plan.

Upaya Station was inaugurated on 5th of Falgun 2079 in the presence of Upaya’s co-founder Ranjeev Shrestha and other representatives from Upaya, representatives from Dolma Impact Fund and development partner Swisscontact – Sahaj Project.

At the opening ceremony, Ranjeev Shrestha, the co-founder of Upaya, spoke about the three pillars of Upaya. Upaya’s first pillar – Matching vehicles & load: To provide every form of vehicle on its platform, be it a two-wheeler vehicle or a twenty-one-ton truck at a tap of mobile phone.

Second pillar – Delivering things from small packages, QR codes to any bulk goods anywhere in Nepal: to bring about a positive change in the way goods are transported in Nepal by using technology and ensuring hassle-free and quick door-to-door delivery of goods anywhere in the country.

The third pillar – Storing & distribution of goods via warehousing: to establish international level warehouses in every province of Nepal so as to ensure efficient storage and proper distribution of goods.

Shrestha added, “We aim for the consolidation of the logistics sector by standing on all the above-mentioned pillars by digitizing and optimizing Nepal’s logistics industry using infrastructure and technology.

In terms of infrastructural development, Upaya has its branches spread over more than 60 cities of Nepal and aims to expand to all 7 provinces of Nepal in the coming years through its branches, franchise partners, and establishment of Upaya Stations & semi-automated fulfillment centers. In terms of strengthening growth, we promote the use of technology for better tracking, transparency, and ease of operations.

Upaya is not only a profit-oriented enterprise but wants to create value and impact in the society by uplifting the whole logistics sector and living standard of associated driver partners. Upaya has the mission to become the logistics backbone of ‘Digital Nepal’ but we feel our driver partners are the true backbone of Upaya and the overall logistics industry. Hence, with the financial support from our investors like Dolma Impact Fund and development partners like UKAid and Swisscontact, Upaya continues to impact the lives of driver partners by creating job opportunities for them and making their lives easier with infrastructure amenities and tech-enabled efficient operations.”
