Two people arrested with 3 Kgs illegal gold
Kathmandu, Sept 26 . The Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu has arrested two people with three kilogrammes illegal gold.
Those arrested in this connection are Nara Bahadur Ghale and Pemba Tamang of Gosainkunda rural municipality. They were arrested based on a tip-off that they were smuggling gold to Kathmandu via the Rasuwa-Kerung transit, police said.
Ghale and Tamang were arrested on Monday evening from the Tokha Road while they were bringing the smuggled gold on a blue Pulsar bike (Ba 73 Pa 3402). Police confiscated 12 pieces of gold from the two men.
Preliminary interrogation by police shows that Ghale and Tamang were only the carriers and not the owners of the gold. Police are trying to trace the main owner, it is stated. The confiscated gold is worth Rs 15 million 20 thousand 699 according to the current market price.
The arrestees have been forwarded to the Revenue Investigation Department for necessary action, police stated.
