2nd Nepal Internet Governance Forum kicks off Friday

Kathmandu, Nov 1 . The two-day national forum of multi-stakeholders on internet policy and technology issues- Nepal Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2018- is being held in the capital city on November 2 and 3.

The second edition of the Nepal IGF to be attended by the government officials, private sectors, technologists, policy makers, development practitioners, internet rights defenders, civil society and the internet users has set the slogan of ‘Making Internet Accessible, Affordable and Safe’ for this year.

During the two-day event, various 18 panels would discuss multifarious issues around the internet governance, said the organizers- Internet Society Nepal Chapter and Internet Governance Institute- in a press release Thursday.

The experts would present their views on the pressing issues as cyber security, internet safety, internet access and quality, affordability, technology and infrastructures, fake news, social networking sites, freedom of expression online and offline, digital divide and inclusion, smart city, according to Internet Society Nepal Chapter Chairperson Santosh Babu Sigdel.

Various regional and international organizations as Facebook, ICANN, APNIC, and Internet Governance Forum would also have participation in the event.
