Besisahar, Lamjung, May 4 . The world-famous trekking route, Annapurna Trekking Route, is to be closed for three days to trekkers and tourists.
The route is being prohibited to tourists considering the security sensitivities in connection with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mustang.
The District Administration Office, Manang has said the trekking route has been kept off limits to tourists for three days as the visitors going to Muktinath from Manang use the route and cross over the Thorang-La mountain pass to Mustang.
The Indian Prime Minister is visiting Muktinath in Musang on May 11. The district authorities in Manang said that the trekking route is being closed from the Manang side from May 10 to 12 at the request of the Mustang district administration office.
The district administration office, Manang has directed the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) to not allow tourists travelling to Thorang-La pass from Manang. Tourists visiting the Annapurna trekking route reach Manang via Lamjung.
It is said tourists cannot enter Mustang using this route even though they might have reached Manang on route to Mustang during the three-day period.
