Arun Chaudhary nabbed in connection wth land-grabbing scam

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 1: Arun Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Holdings under the CG Group, has been arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepali Police.   He was taken under control for necessary investigation regarding the illicit seizing of 10 ropanis of land belonging to Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory.

Arun’s elder brother and the group president, Binod Chaudhary grabbed the land 37 years ago by using his nexus with the then-royal family.  The ownership of the property is registered under the name Chandbadh Residency Pvt Ltd possessed by the younger brother and his spouse Sheela.

Along with Arun,  Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, who previously served as Chairman of the Factory, was also arrested by the police concerning the land-grabbing scam.

Some 15 months back, a complaint was registered in the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against the CG Group regarding the scam. However, the required investigation process could not be forwarded due to the political influence.
