Installation of optical fiber begins in 19 districts of Western region

Nepalgunj, Feb 7 .  As per the announcement of digitization from Government of Nepal, the work to lay optical fiber has begun in province 5, 6 and 7. The work to lay optical fiber has officially started from Nepalgung, this Wednesday.

Government of Nepal has given the authority to lay optical fiber to Smart telecom with NTA bearing all the cost of the project through Rural Telecommunication Development Fund (RTDF). Smart Telecom and CCS (China Communication Service Nepal) are working together in this project.

According to the chairman of Smart telecommunication, Sarvesh Joshi, this step of laying optical fiber will enable the reach of internet to the rural areas and expand broadband network across.

The goal has been set to the lay the optical fiber in Banke Bardiya of province 5,  surkhet, dailekh, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dolpa, Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, Acham, bajura, Bajhang, Doti, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula of Province 6 and 7 within a year. Under this project, 2500km fiber is laid through 19 district along routes connecting the highway with the headquarters.

After the optical fiber is laid, any private or government institution can consume it without paying any extra amount of money. Fiber Smart is responsible for this project for the next 25 years.

This project plays a vital role in digitization project initiated by the Government of Nepal as it expected to increase the telecommunication user within the country.
