Kathmandu. Aug 6. The third section of the transmission line of strategic importance, Kabeli Corridor Transmission Line, has finally come into operation by overcoming decade-long disputes.
The third section of the 132-KV capacity line was operative since Monday after a colossal effort of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Nepal Electricity Authority and energy entrepreneurs.
The construction of 91-kilometre Transmission Line stretching from Jhapa to Lakhanpur has completed. The line is deemed important for transmitting the electricity generated in the rivers as Kabeli, Hewa and Mai.
With this, the power generated from the eastern part of the country would be linked to the national electricity transmission line.
The third section of the 91-kilometre of transmission stretching from Phidim (Thapatar) to Paanchthar (Amarpur) has become functional from Monday while the first section of the Project Lakhanpur (Jhapa)-Godak (Ilam) and second Soyak (Ilam)- Phidim (Paanchthar) were already operative.
Executive Director of the NEA, Kulman Ghising, credited the timely completion of the Transmission Line to continuous efforts and monitoring of the concerned authorities.
Various hurdles were overcome along the way such as poor performance of contractor, obstructions by the locals in the transmission line’s route and delay in obtaining permission for cutting trees for the expansion of transmission line to accomplish the timely completion of the Transmission Line.
