Miss Universe Nepal 2020 announces its top 18 contestants
Kathmandu, Dec 23. Brave, Bold and Beautiful (BBB) Pvt. Ltd. – the new franchise for Miss Universe Nepal (MUN) – has announced the names of this year’s Top 18 quarter-finalists. The names were made public at an event in Marriot Hotel on 22nd December 2020.
At the event, media representatives were given a chance to vote for their favorite social advocacy contestant based on the individual social purpose shared by the MUN contestants. The contestant with maximum votes for Brave Bold Beautiful Social Advocacy went on to secure a place in the Top 10 semifinals. On the basis of the voting Nina Kant Mandal won the title of Social Advocacy which helped her to secure her place in Top 10. The voting reiterated the objective of making this pageant a democratic one.
The winner of Miss Universe Nepal 2020 title will receive a cash prize of one million rupees – the highest amount given out in any Nepali pageant yet.
Given its inclusivity factor and organized to redefine the parameters of beauty, this pageant is certainly going to be one of its kind in Nepal. Alongside attractive cash prize, the organizers of this beauty pageant have taken up the challenge to mainstream inclusivity in such beauty pageants globally. Moreover, held to defy stereotypes and embrace diversity, this pageant will see participants of all shapes and sizes, including transgender women.
Defying all boundaries surrounding beauty, the pageant is going to enable young Nepalis who identify as women to compete – no matter what their circumstances have been. Furthermore, reinforcing the idea of democratizing beauty, the winner will be selected through judges and voting.
