Ranke-Rabi-Bhedetar road takes speed
Phidim, Feb 22. The construction of the Ranke-Rabi-Bhedetar road has taken speed after inspection by Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister. The road has not been completed even five per cent in the past one year.
The onsite inspection by Minister Basant Kumar Nembang has changed things around. The contractor has added equipment and personnel to speed up the work.
The 101-kilometer road does not require construction of bridges and breaking of large rocks. Hence, it should be completed on time. The new momentum on the road construction needs to be continued, said Falgunanda rural municipality Chair Bir Bahadur Kurumba.
The foundation for the road being constructed with loan assistance from the Government of India had been laid in December of 2018. This road connects Paanchthar, Ilam and Dhankuta districts. Residents of Morang, Taplejung and Terhathum districts can also benefit directly from it.
As per the contract, it has to be completed in three years. The estimated cost for the road in Rs. 3.65 billion, with 87 per cent from the Exim Bank of India and remaining by the government of Nepal. Apco of India has been given the contract for the construction of the road. RSS
