Massive demonstration demanding scrapping of Guthi bill

Kathmandu, June 19 . Although the government had withdrawn the controversial Guthi bill, the supporters of the Guthi culture organized a massive demonstration at Maitighar Mandala, demanding the scrapping of the Guthi bill today.
The national identity protection joint struggle committee held the watch rally along with the cultural pageants. Addressing the participants of the demonstration, the Guthi supporters demanded scrapping of the bill, arguing that the withdrawn bill could be forwarded at any time.
The rallies emanated from various places of the Kathmandu Valley to join the demonstration. The musical instruments depicting the traditional Guthi culture were also played. Those attending the protest rally chanted slogans against the bill.
The demonstration was attended by noted rights campaigners including protector of Newa Deya Dabu, Malla K Sundar, Shailesh Shakya Bareju, Sudaya Silakar, Shanta Prakash Shrestha, Gagat Baram, poet Durga Lal Shrestha, Dr Mahesh Maskey and others.The demonstration resulted in obstruction of traffic movement in the valley for hours.
