Tatopani check point comes into operation
Chautara, May 29 . Tatopani check point, which was closed following the Gorkha earthquake on April 25, 2015, has come into operation after four years.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Prasad Yadav, Vice-Minister for Commerce of China, and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, jointly inaugurated the check point at Miteri bridge at Liping of Bhotekoshi rural municipality today.
The checkpoint was brought into operation by importing four containers of wool from Lhasa.
On the occasion, Minister Yadav said that Nepal is committed to ‘One China Policy’. He said that he was hopeful of uninterrupted trade and business through the check point.
Minister Yadav further said that China provided support to Nepal in its post-earthquake reconstruction task.
The Chinese Vice-Minister said that China was ready to move ahead making partnership with Nepal. It was necessary to make Tatopani check point smart in view of security sensitivity.
Although the check point has come into operation, it has not been opened for people’s movement.
