Integrated approach for Valley development a must, stakeholders say

Kathmandu, May 13 . Various stakeholders have stressed the need to go for integrated development approach for overall development of Kathmandu Valley.
At a conference ‘City Security and Environmental Improvement’ organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City as part of inter-municipal partnership, the stakeholders spoke the importance of unity for the development of Kathmandu Valley.
On the occasion, KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya highlighted the need of devising need-based collaborative planning and execution for meaningful development of municipalities.
Mayors of municipalities attending the programme called for inclusion of road safety related contents in the educational curriculum of basic and secondary level.
They have also highlighted the need to develop separate cycle lane, put priority on the operation of public vehicles and remove road encroachment to lessen accidents.
KMC City Planning Commission’s member-secretary Saroj Basnet also laid emphasis on the use of big vehicles noting the survey clearing authority should check whether space for vehicle park has been allotted while passing the sketch of the house. RSS
