Socialist Party schedules state-level mass meetings
Kathmandu, May 11 . Newly constituted the Samajbadi (Socialist) Party has planned to organize a mass meeting at major towns of states to give the message of unity. Earlier on May 6, two parties Federal Socialist Forum Nepal and Naya Shakti Nepal declared unification recently, forming the new party named Socialist Party. According to party co-chair Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, party leading cadres will be further trained during the programme.
Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Surkhet Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi are those cities selected for organising the party programme. Party chair Upendra Yadav and Federal Council’s chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai will address the mass meeting.
The programme for Biratnagar has been scheduled for May 25; for Janakpur on May 26; for Birgunj on May 27; for Bhairahawa on May 31; for Nepalgunj on June 1; for Surkhet on June 2; for Dhangadhi on June 4 and for Pokhara on June 8. The first office-bearers’ meeting after the party unification had earlier decided to hold the event. A total of 19 members represent the Socialist Party in the Federal Parliament which is now making efforts for the unification with the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Nepal.
The party has formed a five-member talks team under the coordination of co-chair Shrestha to proceed with towards that end. According to Shrestha, other political parties having similar ideologies with the party have been appealed for the unification. Other members in the talks team are Parshuram Khapung; Nawaraj Subedi; Dambar Khatiwada and Ram Sahaya Yadav.RSS
