President Bhandari presents government policy and progrmame

Kathmandu, May 3 . President Bidya Devi Bhandari presented the government’s policy and programme for the fiscal year 2076/77 BS (2019-2020) before a joint session of the Federal Parliament today. The Federal Parliament consists of the House of Representatives remaining as the Lower House and the National Assembly which serves as the Upper House.
The Head-of-the- State reached the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor to unveil the government policy and programme. The President began reading out the policy and programme at 16:10 pm. As per the constitutional provision, the President can address any of the House of Federal Parliament separately or jointly.
Upon her arrival at the Federal Parliament Building, the President was welcomed by Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Vice-Chair Dr Shiba Maya Tumbahamphe, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal and Federal Parliament Secretariat general secretary Manohar Prasad Bhattarai. The joint session began at 4:08 pm.
Similarly, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun is present on the occasion to witness the moment. A contingent of Nepal Army (NA) presented a guard of honour to the President at the Federal Parliament Building which is decorated in view of the today’s programme.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented the copy of the government policy and programme to the President. Media from home and abroad are present at the site for the live news coverage.
