PM inaugurates ‘model smart school’ campaign
Kathmandu, May 3. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today inaugurated the campaign of ‘model smart school’ based on information technology for teaching by remote-clicking amid a programme held in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu.
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology organised the programme on the occasion of the second national information and communications technology day with the theme of ‘Digital Nepal: basis for development and prosperity’.
Live telecast of the inaugural ceremony was shown in Bishwo Shanti Secondary School in Kaski where the campaign has been launched. The school has been the first of Gandaki State to become information technology friendly school with the launch of the drive.
The government has a goal of implementing the campaign in at least one community school in each state. In the same programme, Nepal Telecom and the Rastriya Banijya Bank signed a memorandum of understanding for setting up a digital finance company. Managing director of Nepal Telecom, Dilli Ram Adhikari and Chief Executive Officer of the RBB, Kabiraj Adhikari signed on the MoU on behalf their institutions.
Similarly, Hemanta Chaurasiya, president of Computer Associations of Nepal (CAN) Federation and Chairman of Lord Buddha Academy, Pankaj Jalan signed a MoU related to information-technology scholarship. As per this MoU, 49 students would be provided scholarships worth Rs 15 million.
