Registration under PMEP from tomorrow
Kathmandu, March 14 . The process to register unemployed youths under the Prime Minister Employment Programme (PMEP) is set to kick-start from Friday.
Under the programme, the government aims to provide minimum 100 days’ work to unemployed youths of the country within one fiscal year. Employment coordinators deployed at all 753 local levels will register the aspiring unemployed youths for a job.
Those wishing to sign up for jobs in public development activities are required to apply within the set deadline of April 13 to the local level within their birthplace. They have to specify their personal details, academic qualification, skills and training and work experience in the related field, the interested job category and working hours.
The submitted job applications will get endorsed by the respective village and town assembly before entering the employment information management system.
The job categories under the PNEP include in commercial agriculture, irrigation, drinking water, river control, forest, tourism, transport infrastructure and public construction among others. All three governments in federal, provincial and local levels will coordinate in this effort, said Prakash Dahal, joint secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.
Additional job categories will be added under the PMEP in coordination with the private sector, cooperative and non-governmental organisations, he said.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the programme on February 13. The government has also set aside Rs 3.1 billion for the campaign for the current fiscal year of 2018/19.
