11 months on, Galchhi-Kerung International Highway not in operation

Rasuwa, March 4. The international highway from Galchhi in Dhading to Rasuwagadhi through Trishuli, Mailung and Syafrubesi has not come into operation even through its construction was completed 11 months ago.
Nepal Army had opened the new track of 17-km double-lane road from Mailung to Syafrubesi last year to ease Nepal-China bilateral trade transactions.
Against the backdrop, the locals had demanded proper and timely government intervention to bring the road section into operation.
It may be noted that the NA had handed over the highway to the Department of Road amidst a programme on 19 April 2018 by completing its construction in the stipulated time of 20 months.
Subod Devkota, chief of Galchhi-Syafrubesi road improvement project, said the track along the road section was opened to up-grade and manage the highway after landslips caused huge damages to it.
