New Road’s promotion as trade hub essential: Minister Yadav
Kathmandu, Feb 17. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Matrika Prasad Yadav, has said New Road area could be developed as a model trade hub.
Addressing the 6th convention of Khichapokhari New Road Trade Association here today, Minister Yadav hailed the traders, saying that businesspersons of New Road would play significant role to the national campaign of prosperous Nepal.
According to him, to develop New Road as a model trade hub, all traders need to be united. “New Road is country’s property, so the businesspersons here should protect the value of this area,” he underscored.
The Minister however admitted that government was yet to work as per people’s expectation and commitment to it was intact.
On the occasion, Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Mayor, Bidya Sundar Shakya, shared the information that KMC would come up with a plan to develop historic New Road area. “Efforts are on to construct the business complex here. Urban area would be free of footpath shops.”
He further said even the tender notice was issued to make Durbar Marg and New Road as a smart parking areas.
Senior Vice-Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Rajendra Malla, urged the government to work effectively to reduce the import. Other speakers on the occasion made aware the Minister on customs hassles, exorbitant interest rate and others. RSS
