Kathmandu, Feb. 16 . An earthquake measuring 4.0 in the Richter scale jolted the Capital City at 8:34 this evening. According to the Chief of National Seismological Centre Lok Bijaya Adhikari, the tremor occurred with its epicenter near Kirtipur, the southern belt of the valley.
Adhikari said that this is not a fresh quake, but an aftershock of ‘Gorkha Earthquake, 2015’.
This evening, normal life was terrorised in the Capital with the big jerk of the tremor. Earlier, an aftershock of Gorkha Earthquake 3.3 in Richter scale had occurred on January 22 with the epicenter in Thapathali, Kathmandu. So far, a total of 511 aftershocks of more than 4 in Richter scale have occurred after the Gorkha Earthquake.
