Nepal, China agree to forward comprehensive work plan on energy sector
Kathmandu, Sept 28 . Nepal and China have agreed to forward comprehensive work plan for the development of energy and its facilitation.
The meeting of the energy mechanism formed between the two countries begun in Kathmandu on Friday decided to establish a joint work group, comprising technical human resources of the country, which would come up with a concrete plan within a month. The second meeting of the energy mechanism would be held in China. The date for it would be fixed in convenience.
The Nepali delegation was led by Secretary at Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Anup Kumar Upadhyay, while Deputy Director General of International Economic Department, Hi Yang, led 9-member the Chinese delegation.
Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire said the discussion focused on the issues as demand and supply of energy, its projection, current status of project development, work plan for joint venture for development project, and construction of interstate transmission line.
The Ministry further said the meeting was held as per the agreements reached between Nepal and China during Prime Minister KP Oli’s last visit to China.
