Sri Lanka Takes Chairmanship of BIMSTEC

Kathmandu, Aug 31. Chairmanship of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) has been handed over to Sri Lanka.
At a concluding ceremony of the Fourth Summit in the Capital today, BIMSTEC Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed on its chairmanship to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli expressed gratitude for continuous support Nepal received from BIMSTEC countries after taking chairmanship in 2014.
The PM also wished new BIMSTEC Chair, Sri Lanka, for successful term.
