NRA asks beneficiaries to continue construction works
Kathmandu, Aug. 8. The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has asked the local level governments in 32 districts to continue with the post-quake reconstruction bid as before.
Earlier, the NRA had asked the beneficiaries to collect the amount of the second installment till the second week of July 2017 after withdrawing Rs 50,000 of the first installment in the second week of January 2017.
However, the number of beneficiaries missing to collect the second installment is more than 300,000 for failing to carry on with the reconstruction works due to lack of technical expertise and construction materials.
Till Tuesday, more than 493,000 beneficiaries have been verified to receive the second tranche of the money.
Joint Spokesperson of the NRA Manohar Ghimire said that preparations are on to extend the deadline for receiving the amount since the beneficiaries have to wait for some time to get the money after the verification.
The entire number of beneficiaries is 807,000 plus. The NRA had summoned a meeting of the Directorate Committee in the first week of July but the meeting was put off after the CEO of NRA was relieved of the post from the cabinet decision.
Meanwhile, the NRA has made it clear that there was no problem to carry out regular functions though policy-level decisions could not take place for absence of CEO
