Global tender announced for metro rail linking Nagdhunga of Dhulikhel
Kathmandu, May 19 . A process has been initiated to construct a metro rail linking Nagdhunga of Kathmandu to Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchok. The Investment Board Nepal chaired by the Prime Minister has called a global bidding for the project. The deadline to apply for the contract is four weeks.
Under the first phase of the construction process, consultants will be selected before carrying out a feasibility study, said the Board’s Spokesperson Uttam Bhakta Wagle. The advisors are tasked with preparing a detailed feasibility study report.
The government will provide necessary arrangement towards that end. “The deadline for applying for the tender is 30 days. Qualified and experienced applicants are expected,” said Wagle.
The Rs 180 billion project covering 45 kilometers from Nagdhunga to Dhulikhel is targeted to be completed in the next four years, said the Investment Board.
On November 13, 2017, a Board meeting under the chairpersonship of then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had decided to prepare a detailed feasibility study and detailed project report of the project. Chinese and Japanese companies are showing interest in constructing the first-ever metro rail in Nepal.
