Lower House continues discussions on Appropriation Bill’s principles and priorities
Kathmandu, May 14 .The House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament continues deliberations on the principles and priorities (except tax proposal) of the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2075-76 BS today as well.
In a meeting of the lower house today, CPN (UML) lawmaker Ghanshyam Bhusal said migration from villages to urban areas and to foreign land from home is a grave problem in the nation’s economy, underlining the need of giving attention to the development of national capital.
He was of the view of associating every sort of wages and income to the nation’s productive capacity.
Man Bahadur Bishwakarma of Nepali Congress advised the government to bear in mind Nepal’s commitment to upgrading the country from the least developed list by 2022 while bringing budget for the new fiscal year.
CPN (Maoist Center)’s Tek Bahadur Basnet stressed that there should be no budgetary constraints for projects of national pride and priorities. Road connectivity, electricity and communications should be the priorities of budget.
Federal Socialist Forum Nepal’s Pradeep Yadav urged the central government to empower the province and local governments. Stating that the Province 2 was at the bottom in terms of human development index, he demanded the government incorporate the issue in new budget.
CPN (UML)’s Chhabilal Bishwakarma advised the government to accord priority to the reconstruction of earthquake-damaged heritages of archeological importance and uplifting of the marginalised community while Yagya Bahadur Bogati from the same party stressed on the concept of balanced development in upcoming budget.
Dila Sangraula (Pant) of the Nepali Congress accused that government’s policy and programmes failed to give priority to the promotion of private, health, education and communications sectors. Poverty alleviation issues have not taken seriously, according to her.
CPN (MC)’s Purna Kumari Subedi sought incorporation of policies and programmes capable of controlling corruption and improving livelihood of ethnic communities and causing relief to the flood victims in the mid-western Tarai in budget. The meeting is underway.
