33 kilo gold scam: case filed against 63 accused

Biratnagar, May 2 . A case was filed at the District Court Morang against 63 persons accused of involvement in the smuggling of 33.5 kilograms of gold and the murder of one Sanam Shakya.
Of the 63, 29 have been arrested. The chargesheet was filed today through the Office of the Public Prosecutor after the District Police Office completed the 60-day investigation period.
Separate cases has been filed against the accused for running criminal gangs, indulging in illegal trade of gold and silver, kidnapping and hostage-taking, according to the court records-keeper Nawaraj Dulal.
Of the 63, six are former and serving police officials while others include airlines staff and gold traders. The 33.5 kgs of gold was smuggled via the Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital.
