3rd National Mountain Agro Entrepreneurship Promotion kicks off
Kathmandu, Feb 23. The third National Mountain Agro Entrepreneurship Promotion Fair-2018 kicked off in the capital city today.
The fair inaugurated by Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun is aimed at promoting the agricultural products from the mountainous districts.
It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Livestock Development, and the Upper Hilly Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Improvement Project.
The stalls of various agricultural products from Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu and Humla are in the fair. One can buy the products such as local Jumli rice, Himalayan tea, dried apple, cardamom, black lentil, beans, saffron, chhurpi, silajit, walnut, medicinal herbs as chiraito, and traditional blanket (radipakhi) in the fair.
Inaugurating the fair, Vice-President Pun expressed worry over declining agricultural economy in the country. He wondered why Nepal, despite being an agricultural country, was depending highly on others.
The Asian Development Bank has provided the assistance for organizing the fair.
