Robbery attempt halted outside money transfer, one arrested
Pokhara March 15– A man has been arrested while he was fleeing the scene after robbing a sum of Rs 645,000 from outside the Prithivi Chok-based Shree Sabhyata Money Transfer in Pokhara. The suspect has been identified as Prashant Thapa Magar (36) of Dharan-4.
Magar along with his friend brandishing a pistol broke into the money transfer and overpowered two women employees and asked for the money. Eventually, one of the employees handed them the cash, police informed. After they kept the cash in a bag, they pulled down the shutter and told the employees to keep quiet.
In the mean time, when the robbers were trying to flee the scene on a motorbike (Ba 24 Pa 4079), one of the employees shouted for help and managed to nab Magar with the help of locals. One of the robbers, however, managed to flee the scene.
Police reached the scene shortly after the robber was arrested. Police said that they have recovered a sophisticated pistol from the Magar’s possession. Locals said that the robbery attempt was foiled after the robbers failed to start their bike.
Meanwhile, police have also taken the operator of the money transfer under control for investigation. Police said that they are searching for the absconding robber. It has been learned that a group of robbers had robbed Rs 450,000 from the same money transfer two years ago also.
