Ncell App users urged not to disclose pin number, personal details

Kathmandu February 24- Ncell, the country’s leading mobile service provider, has requested all users of its self-service mobile app — Ncell App — not to share or disclose the pin number and other personal details.

The company has made this request after a few people managed to misuse the app, which was developed with an aim to empower customers for effective services management, by deceiving the customers, as per a media release issued today.

Milan Sharma, corporate communications expert of Ncell said that the company does not ask for sensitive information like pin number from customers over the phone. “Customers should not disclose them even if someone asks for such information taking the name of Ncell. In case customers get such calls, we request them to inform Ncell by dialling 9005 or e-mailing at [email protected],” Sharma added.

Sharma further stated that Ncell contacts its customers only through the company’s authorised numbers or channels. “Only the SMS received from ‘Ncell’ and calls received from numbers starting with 980555 (last four digits after that could vary) are official or authorised SMS or calls from Ncell. SMS or calls received from other numbers are not. Hence, we request our customers to be alert,” Sharma stated.

Ncell has further clarified that it never asks its customers to deposit cash in any bank or pay money to anyone, promising rewards or bonus or other benefits. If customers get such fraudulent SMS or calls, the company has requested that it be immediately informed or that it be brought to the notice of the police.
