Nepal Telecom to lay optical fiber from Panchthar to Kathmandu
Kathmandu February 22- Nepal Telecom has shown interest in laying optical fiber in rural mid-mountainous highway. Telecom has submitted proposal in Telecommunication Authority to lay optical fiber using funds of Rural Telecommunication Development Fund.
Telecom has proposed to lay fiber from Panchthar of mid-mountainous based highway to Kathmandu. Telecom has submitted proposal worth of Rs. 4 billion 280 million for total of 660 km distance.
Amongst the proposed project, Telecom has its own fiber in several sites. Company has planned to lay nearly 400 km optical fiber under the ground. Remaining will be connected through Nepal Electricity Authority's 'An Optical Fiber Ground Wire (OPGW) and 'All Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS)'. Optical Fiber will access to most of the eastern and central mountainous district headquarter.
