JICA to provide technical assistance

Kathmandu February 18- Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) signed a technical cooperation project named “Project on Capacity Development for the Implementation of Economic Census 2018 in Nepal” with the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Wednesday for the implementation of the planned Economic Census 2018 in Nepal.


Suman Raj Aryal, Director General of CBS, and Tsutomu Shimizu, Chief Representative of JICA Nepal Office, signed the “record of discussion of the project”, JICA said in a statement.


The Project targets to develop the Capacity of CBS to conduct economic census and enhance such skills in conducting other related statistical surveys. The projects aims CBS staff be able to plan and implement Economic Census, process and scrutinize economic census Data.


Statistical results provided by CBS will be utilised for planning and implementation of policies, plans, and strategies of line ministries, local governments, universities, research institutions and private sector. The duration of the project will be tentatively for five years. Source: THT
