World Bank team meets Ministry of Agricultural development officials
Kathmandu February 7– Members of the 13th mission of the World Bank on Friday met officials of the Ministry of Agricultural Development in Kathmandu.
Directors general and representatives from the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Livestock Services and the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control discussed the mechanical and technical support provided to the departments under the Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT).
Director General of the DoA, Dr Yuwak Dhwoj GC, thanked the WB for the aid provided to the department to run the sub-project, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), in Kavre, Dhading and Chitwan for crop preservation.
They also discussed the need of timely monitoring to maintain food quality.
Likewise, an interaction programme was held between members of the mission and grant recipients in Bhadaure of Okhaldhunga.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation representative Anton Glaeser also joined the mission led by the team leader Patrick Verissimo.
Participants from the District Agricultural Development Offices and District Livestock Offices had discussed the nature of the sub-projects to be held in Kavre, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbhu districts.
World Bank team at the programme questioned sustainability of the sub-projects.
