Share trading of 5 dozen companies restricted

Kathmandu January 17- Nepal stock exchange froze share trading of 5 dozen companies because these companies failed to dematerialize their stock. Earlier, Securities board of Nepal directed all listed companies in NEPSE to d-mat their stock. Only 172 out of 232 listed companies in NEPSE were able to d-mat their stock thus, remaining 60 companies were barred from trading, as per NEPSE.
Trading of stock of the companies who have d-matted their stock but are in merger process are also stopped.
Today is the first operation day of the companies that have d-matted their shares. Though some companies have already made agreement with CDS and clearing limited to d-mat their shares, their trading has been halted due to incompletion of the process. Trading of these companies will start as soon as the process completes as per NEPSE.
