Trading of D-matted shares only from today

Kathmandu January 17- Full fledge CSDC implementation is being carrying out from today in share trading. As per the directive of Securities Board of Nepal, shares trading of all the listed companies can be carried out only in Demat form from January 15.

The trading of shares of the companies that has failed to dematerialize their shares by the mid- January has been halted effective from January 15. Trading of such companies will recommence after they enter into dematerialization process.

Effective from today i.e. January 17 transaction of shares will be possible only in D-mat form. Shareholders need to dematerialize their physical share certificates to trade. The transaction of physical share certificates will not be allowed from today.

Till date 161 companies have gone in full Demat process. Altogether 50 companies are registered as clearing members where 48 Licensed Depository Participants and 145 thousand 334 beneficial d-mat owners’ account have been registered. More than 296.8 million paper shares certificates are transferred into D-mat form. There are 25 companies in the pipeline for Admission of Securities and 10 DPs are in pipeline.
