Gold price dropped while silver rose

Kathmandu January 17- Gold price slumped by Rs 100 pertola, however, silver increased by five rupees atola over the week, from January 10 to 15.

The market opened on Sunday with gold price fixed at Rs 49,800 pertola. The price of the precious yellow metal edged up by Rs 100 atola on Monday to be traded at Rs 49,900 pertola. However, gold price decreased on Tuesday and Wednesday. The bullion price tumbled by Rs 200 atola on Tuesday and was fixed at Rs 49,700 pertola.

Likewise, price of gold plunged by Rs 600 pertola in a single day on Wednesday to be traded at Rs 49,100 atola.

The precious yellow metal recovered the previous day’s loss, rising by Rs 600 atola to Rs 49,700 pertola on Thursday. Gold price remained unchanged on Friday due to a public holiday forMaghe Sankranti festival.

Meanwhile, price of silver went up by five rupees pertola during the five trading days of the week.

The market opened on Sunday with silver price fixed at Rs 675 pertola and remained unchanged till Wednesday. The price of the white metal increased by five rupees pertola to settle the week’s trading at Rs 680 atola, as Friday was a public holiday.

Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, which fixes price of bullion for the domestic market based on the rates of international market, does not review the prices on public holidays.
