Each federal state to get one industrial estate

Kathmandu January 3- Som Prasad Pandey Minister for Industry said the government was preparing to establish one big industrial estate in each of the seven provincial states.
In an interaction organised by Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minister Pandey said the government was in course of identifying and searching for at least 1,000bighas of land in the seven provinces to establish industrial estates.
The minister added that the area in Motipur of Rupandehi district would be transformed into an industrial estate within the next six months. The government’s coordination with the local bodies and the organisations relating to establishment of Motipur Industrial Estate has helped it to identify the land and hold discussions at the local level.
The minister went on an on-site visit to Motipur along with Industrial Estate Management Ltd (IEML) Chairman Nanda Kishor Basnet.
On the occasion, Basnet said although the previous government had allocated the budget two years ago for the cause, there has been no considerable progress in the works pertaining to it. Source: THT
