DPM Kamal Thapa returns from China; China to donate 1.4 m litres of fuel to Nepal

Kathmandu December 29-  Wrapping up its six-day official visit to China, the high-level Nepali delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, returned home on Tuesday.

Upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport this morning, Deputy Prime Minister Thapa informed that the Chinese government has decided to provide 1,400,000 litres of fuel worth 10m RMB to Nepal government in grant.

Deputy Prime Minister Thapa said that the two countries have succeeded in drawing a sketch of the economic relationship between Nepal and China as a strong basis for the framework of economic development, connectivity and infrastructure development has been built during the visit.

He highlighted the the discussion on agreement for trade on petroleum products, transit treaty, Bilateral Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (BIPPA) and Free Trade Agreement between the two countries as major achievements.

Saying that his China visit was successful, Foreign Minister Thapa said the programme schedule has been fixed for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s visit to China. “PM Oli will visit to China in the beginning of the New Year 2016 during which many other agreements will be signed,” said Thapa. 

He said the formal agreement for the import of fuel from China will be signed during PM’s China visit.
