Labour desk to be set up at TIA

Kathmandu December 27- Migrant workers leaving for foreign countries for employment will get rid of hassles while acquiring approval for labour permit, thanks to a desk to be set up at the Tribhuvan International Airport, which will keep record of returnee migrant workers and approve labour permits already issued by the Department of Foreign Employment.

To come into effect within six months, the provision proposed by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers was passed by the cabinet meeting on December 10.

As per the provision, labour agreement would be made with major labour destination countries for sending Nepali migrant workers on minimum cost within three months and monitoring would be carried out whether the provision of free visa and ticket for Nepali migrant workers has been implemented.

The provision also states that the process would be done in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour and Employment for the Nepali missions in worker receiving countries to provide migrant workers with facilities they are entitled to.

The provision said that 300 Nepali people will be sent to Israel in first phase within six months.

Likewise, according to the provision, the process to formulate policies, make laws and carry out other necessary works would be managed within one year to implement provisions related to labour and employment.

The Department of Foreign Employment said that preparations were underway to fill out forms for those who are illiterate leaving for foreign countries for employment free of cost within three months. RSS
