Police and Morcha cadres clash at Gaur

Kathmandu December 20- A clash occurred between Police and cadres of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha at Gaur in Rautahat district on Sunday. This is the second clash in the district in the past two days after the Madhesi Morcha decided to intensify their protests.

The police had to fire several rounds of bullets in the air and shot tear gas shells to ward off the agitators after the latter hurled stones and glass bottles targeting the security personnel.

Ten Morcha cadres and four police personnel are injured in the clash.

Police have been making announcements to organise peaceful protest programmes.

Earlier, on Saturday, tension gripped Rautahat after the agitating SLMM decided to intensify its protests following what it calls government’s “unilateral move” of tabling the Constituent Amendment Bill in Parliament.

Likewise, the agitating Morcha has announced to burn the copies of the Amendment Bill in various district headquarters. Source: TKP
