ADB approves of USD 15 million grant for earthquake recovery
Kathmandu December 8– The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide USD 15 million as grant assistance from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) to the Government of Nepal for the disaster risk reduction and livelihood restoration for earthquake-affected communities.
The JFPR is a fund set up by the Japanese government and managed by the ADB.
The grant agreement in this connection was signed today by Lok Darshan Regmi, Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Kenichi Yogoyama, Country Director of Nepal Residence Mission, ADB, in the Ministry.
Objectives of the project are to help restore the disrupted livelihoods and schooling in the poor and severely earthquake-affected communities, and strengthen their resilience against future disaster.
The project will be implemented in 14 districts inlcuding Gorkha, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchok, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, Dolakha, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli and Makawanpur. Source: THT
