NEPSE up by 32.26 points to close at 1066.38; Market reacts positively to talks between government and Madhesi parties

Kathmandu December 1- The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange went up by 32.26 points or 3.12% to close at 1066.38.

Opening at 1034.25 this afternoon, the local index went up to 1051.12 during the first trading hour and continued rising throughout the day. The market reacted positively to news of talks between the government and the agitating Madhes based parties.

The total turnover of the day stood at Rs 207.3 million where more than 4 million 168 thousands unit of shares was traded through 2039 transactions. HBL, NLIC and NABILP had turnovers above Rs.10 million.

Sensitive index and the float index went up by 7 points and 2.41 points respectively.

Except finance, all sectors at NEPSE have closed green. Finance sector has been dropped by 0.03% while banking sector has increased by 3.92%, development bank group increased by 2.58%, hydro group has increased by 1.64%, insurance group has increased by 4%, and 'other' group has increased by 0.62%.

On the basis of transaction amount, Himalayan Bank stands tall with Rs. 17.7 million while on the basis of number of shares, Nabil balance fund 1 came first with 52,234 units of shares and on the basis of number of transactions, Api hydro power took height with 534 numbers of transactions.

Nepal rural development bank, Nepal investment bank and Dev development bank are the top gainers today while Swabalamban development bank, Progressive finance and Bank of Kathmandu are the top loosers.
