Samsung brings out Gear S2 smartwatch

Kathmandu Nov 20, 2015- Samsung Electronics on Wednesday launched the Gear S2 smartwatch in the domestic market, the company's latest offering as a result of many years of progressive innovation in the wearables category. The timepiece comes in two options—Gear S2 sports and Gear S2 classic. The Gear S2 sports has a price tag of Rs34,500. The Gear S2 classic will be available soon.

According to Samsung, the Gear S2 is compatible with smartphones running on Android 4.4 and higher with more than 1.5 GB of RAM. It features a 1.2-inch, circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 resolution.

The smartwatch is powered by a 1.0 GHz dual core processor and runs on Samsung’s own Tizen-based wearable platform OS. It has a storage capacity of 4 GB and 512 MB RAM.
The Gear S2 is equipped with a 250 mAh battery. It supports wireless charging. According to the company, the battery will last for two-three days of typical use on a full charge.

As the device comes with S Health, Nike+ Running fitness functions, it will encourage consumers to stay healthy and active. The 24-hour activity log lets users view daily activity progress and patterns at a glance. It will also send reminder updates to motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals.  

Other features of the smartwatch are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, contacts, notifications, messages, email, press text, voice input, emoticons, keypads, music player, schedule, news, maps and navigation, weather and gallery.

The device is packed with features like accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate, ambient light and barometer, S Voice, voice memo, find my device, power saving mode, safety assistance and privacy lock.  

The Gear S2 is ideal for those who are on the go and have an admiration for minimal and modern design. It has a rotating bezel, along with Home and Back buttons, that provides users a quicker and more precise method to comfortably access notifications and applications.  

According to the company, the Gear S2 classic, which will be available within two weeks, is made for users who prefer a more timeless watch design, offering an elegant black finish with a matching genuine leather band.
