Domestic airlines hike fare

Kathmandu November 10- Operators of domestic airlines have hiked the fare for all sectors after adjusting fuel surcharge, effective from Tuesday.

As airlines have been compelled to purchase airlifted aviation fuel at more than double the earlier rate, Airline Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) today decided to revise the fare, according to Ghanashyam Raj Acharya, spokesperson for AOAN.

From today, the domestic airlines have started purchasing fuel from Nepal Airlines at Rs 223 per litre as against the earlier rate of Rs 115 from Nepal Oil Corporation and revised the fuel surcharge accordingly. Hence, the fuel surcharge has now been set in the range of Rs 2,620 to Rs 9,025, depending on the routes. The fuel surcharge on mountain flights has been hiked to $87 from $43 earlier.

After adjustment of fuel surcharge, tentative fare of Kathmandu-Dhangadhi sector has been calculated at Rs 15,595. Likewise, fare to Nepalgunj has been fixed at Rs 11,690, Bhadrapur (Rs 10, 870), Biratnagar (Rs 8,955), Bhairahawa (Rs 7,860), Tumlingtar (Rs 7,550), Pokhara (Rs 6,290), Janakpur (Rs 5,265), Bharatpur (Rs 4,650) and Simara (Rs 2,945).

As per AOAN, the new fuel surcharge reached Rs 3,055 in Kathmandu-Bharatpur sector, Pokhara (Rs 3,950), Biratnagar (Rs 5,385), Janakpur (Rs 3,495), Simara (Rs 2,620), Bhairahawa (Rs 4,800), Dhangadhi (Rs 9,025), Nepalgunj (Rs 6,840), Bhadrapur (Rs 6,405), Tumlingtar (Rs 4,805).
